Jonas Kaufmann sings the title role in the new live recording of Wagner's Parsifal, from the Vienna State Opera’s celebrated 2021 production, under conductor Philippe Jordan, with Elīna Garanča’s heralded role debut as Kundry, Georg Zeppenfeld as Gurnemanz, Ludovic Tézier’s role debut as Amfortas and Wolfgang Koch as Klingsor. The press response after the premiere was unanimous: “Sensational cast” (Der Standard), and “An overall luxurious ensemble performance” (Die Zeit). Sony Classical will release the complete opera on March 1, 2024 as a deluxe hard-bound book including 4CDs and a 284-page booklet in German, English and French, including many photos from director Kirill Serebrennikov’s impressive production.
